Today I Want: Gold-cuffed

Monday, April 30, 2012

ASOS Thin Smooth Double Cuffs, $27.27
I don't usually wear cuffs.  For some reason they never fit well on my wrists (they can't be that big, can they?). They're also usually huge and frequently gaudy.  But these are simple, and shiny! And gold! I need gold jewelry to accompany the 2 pairs of gold earrings I own.

Little Bits of Life Lately

Saturday, April 28, 2012

Just a few of the things I've done in the past few weeks!

Saw the space shuttle, Discovery, come to DC on top of a NASA 747.  We were allowed on the roof at work, and got to watch it fly straight down the center of the Mall three times!

Took Fitzgerald, my roommate K.'s dog, to Pups in the Park at Nationals Stadium.  He was less than impressed by baseball...  But the Nats won!

Finally, bought some red pants (will be going back to Gap to get some more colors)

Bought some new sunnies and cute shoes from the brand new TJ Maxx, which just opened in downtown DC.  If you haven't been yet, go check it out!

That's all folks.

Today I Want: Classic

Thursday, April 26, 2012

Vince Camuto Heath, $83.59
Once upon a time I went to San Francisco (I promise, the rest of those pictures will be up sometime this century...).  While there, K. and I went to the newly opened (enormous) DSW where I found these lovely, classic, black Vince Camuto pumps.  Of course, I didn't purchase them because I couldn't justify spending the money on 4" heels.  Because let's be honest, while I greatly enjoy higher stilettos, I just can't walk in them very well.  And why spend money on something you'd rarely wear?

I regret that decision. A decision I regret even more is that when I found the mid-heel version at Nordstrom, I didn't snap those babies up in a heartbeat.  Because, obviously, I can't find them anywhere now.

Karma.

*In other news, the 1000th TJ Maxx just opened in DC right near my work and on my way home ahhhhh.  Hopefully there will be some fun new clothes debuting on the blog soon!*

Today I Want: Mellow Yellow

Tuesday, April 24, 2012

Belle by Sigerson Morrison Randy, $175
The yellow of these sandals isn't necessarily mellow (it's rather blinding, actually), but it's how I've been feeling lately.  Blah. This explains the lack of outfit posts and the general lack of anything here on the blog.

I'm trying to figure out life get a new job (I do not think one can ever figure out life).  It is discouraging, to say the least.  Maybe happy, neon sandals will help?

Nicer, summery weather would also help.  Winter returned for the past few days blech.

Colorblocking

Monday, April 23, 2012

Every so often, I get inspired to do some interior decorating (by interior decorating, I mean rearranging).  However, since I have roommates and we share the space, I have to limit my rearranging to my things only.   One of the things that have recently caught my eye on various design blogs is the trend of arranging books by color, instead of alphabetically or by size.  It looks cool!  It's practical and it gives a room a focal point - sort of like functional art!

I took a look at my books this weekend, and unfortunately most of the ones I have here in DC aren't fun colors (or even similar ones).  But I might try rearranging them just for the hell of it, to see if it works!

I just can't figure out what you do with book series that have covers in different colors.  Do you keep them together? Separate them out? I'm not sure my OCD can handle that!

Do you like this trend?

Where I Wore It: Work (4/18/12)

I am surprised by how much I really like this shirt.  I'm usually not one for shorter, loose, boxy items.  But this one, I really enjoy.  I also love that it is really lightweight and is a non-obnoxious snake print.

Yesterday was cold and gray.  Big change from Monday and Tuesday.  I don't understand.  Just be warm and stay there.

Where I Wore It: Eastern Market and Brunch (4/15/12)

I love this dress.  It's so easy.  Even when it gives me a neck ache from the halter straps.  I wore it to tool around Eastern Market with A. and have delicious food.  It's been ages since I've been there, especially now that I've moved from the neighborhood, and it was wonderful to come back.  Wonderful, and crowded.  With significantly less produce than I remembered.  But then I realize that it's still April, even if it is over 80 degrees outside.

Once again, jumping the season gun.

Beach

Where I Wore It: Stinson Beach (4/1/12)

Seriously, west coast beaches are beautiful.  So are those on the east coast, but in a totally different way.  They're just so much more untamed on the west coast.  A lot rockier, too.

Today I Want: Maxi-mum Color

Tuesday, April 17, 2012

ASOS Maxi Skirt w/ Broderie Inserts, $81.81
What can I say,  I really like maxi skirts.  And saturated colors.

Actually, I just really like to twirl in maxi skirts :).

Riding Bikes

Where I Wore It: Biking around Angel Island (3/30/12)

Prior to this second day in California, I hadn't been on bike since I was literally 12.  Let me tell you, at least for me, it does not come back that easily.  I seem to only be ok so long as I can move very quickly and in a fairly straight line.  Ask me to turn, go slow, or go uphill, well we have a problem.

However, suffering through an incredibly painful 5-mile ride around the perimeter of Angel Island was well worth it because of the great views.  If only the sun hadn't waited until we got back to San Francisco to come out...

Today I Want: ORANGE

Monday, April 16, 2012

Tahari Celeste Espadrille, $198
I'm going to thank Pantone for my obsession with orange.  It is my new favorite color!  It's so bright and happy and I want to own everything in it (case in point, my Clarisonic).  These wedges from Elie Tahari are just another step on the path to my orange-world domination.

Bubba Gump

Where I Wore It: Walking around San Francisco (3/29/12)

Where did summer come from again?  It is here for the next couple days.  I am fairly pleased because that means I won't freeze in the morning!  However, it's still too early.  It's only mid-April!

I wore this outfit the first day I was in California.  We walked around Pier 39 and Fisherman's Wharf and also rode on the trolley cars (which are one of my favorite parts of San Francisco).  It was gray and foggy, but at least it didn't rain!
